It is also a member of the Association of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spain.
A Glimpse into the History of Bubion
The origins of Bubión date back to Roman times, as evidenced by remains of burials from that era found in the area.
It is believed that in the 8th century, the town served as the administrative center of the district known as the Taha de Poquiere, encompassing the villages of Capileira, Pampaneira, Bubión and the settlement of Alguastar.

The Alpujarras Revolt revolt failed, and all the villages that supported the rebellious Moorish king were harshly punished.
Its population was expelled permanently, and they were repopulated with people brought from other parts of Spain.
What to See in Bubión - Churches, Museums and Corners
Bubión preserves a parish church that has been rebuilt several times. It was burned during the Moorish rebellion and later destroyed by an earthquake in 1804.

Opinions about Bubion in the Alpujarra
Ideal for those wanting a peaceful environment

A beautiful white village nestled between Pampaneira and Capileira. It's not as touristy as Pampaneira, making it the perfect choice for those seeking a quieter atmosphere.
Like other villages in the Alpujarra region, Bubion has charming little white houses with flower-adorned balconies and tinaos
Wander through its picturesque steep and narrow streets. And, of course, try its local cuisine, such as Alpujareno dish and migas, while enjoying a tapa.
Lesser-known village

Bubion is less known than other villages in this region, and many people overlook it as they continue on to the next village.
The lower part of the village, located to the left towards Capileira, is particularly charming, with numerous unique fountains, spectacular views, and luxurious surroundings.
It's worth stopping to explore this part of the village. Additionally, there are plenty of places to grab a beer or a bite to eat, along with several interesting hiking routes.
