Enjoy a special day at the Alhambra with a guided tour

Many of the beaches along the Costa Tropical are designated as National Marine Reserve, safeguarding some of the Mediterranean Sea's most pristine Posidonia Oceanica meadows.
Here you can find the Cerro Gordo cliffs, a protected area of about 12 square kilometers of coastline with numerous caves and underwater grottoes.

There are several companies that offer diving courses and other services in Granada Costa Tropical. Additionally, there are other companies providing professional diving courses, such as Pro Buceo.
Types of Courses
There is a great variety of diving courses on the Costa Tropical. Here, we list the most popular ones, explaining the difference between them so you can choose the most suitable option for you.1. Baptism

We strongly recommend that you start with a baptism before spending a lot of money on a course.
Each student is under the supervision of a qualified instructor, who will hold your tank and control the air consumption.
Baptism is not a course and does not certify you as a diver.
2. Scuba Diving Course

You must be accompanied by a PADI instructor.
Includes: a student's kit, theoretical and practical classes in confined and open water settings, diving equipment and insurance.
3. Open Water Diving Course

Unlike the Scuba Diver course, with this qualification you can dive anywhere in the world without an instructor.
Includes: theoretical and practical classes in confined and open water settings, diving equipment and insurance.
Course Content: Units
In the theoetical clasess trainees are explained a bit of physics so they can understand how the water affects us, how the equipment works, how we should move, etc ...
During the confined water diving lessons, you will be expected to carry out some exercises in order to learn how to control the equipment so you can feel comfortable underwater.
This unit (confined water diving) does not necessarily have to take place in a pool. It can also take place in the sea, mantaining the same conditions of depth, visibility and water tranquility as in a swimming pool.

Important things to take into account: you should pay attention not only to prices, but also to the quality of the course, total number of dives, diving spots, the number of theoretical and practical lessons, the duration of the course, etc.

Usually the best diving spots are in the Cerro Gordo Natural Area, Punta de la Mona and La Herradura Bay, where you can find the most impressive seabed.
To choose the most suitable course, ask these questions:
- Groups can be very big. It is advisable to find out how many people will be in your group. The smaller the group, the better.- Duration of the course, number of hours and days, number of dives and duration of each dive.
- If the courses take place in a pool or open water, find out how many hours in the pool and how many in open water.

Opinions about Diving in Granada
Beginner’s dive

We did a beginner’s dive with Buceo La Herradura and had a great experience. Exploring this part of the ocean was truly fascinating. The marine life is abundant and diverse. We saw schools of sardines, groupers, octopuses, and shrimp.
The dives went very well, though I hope for better visibility next time. The guides were very friendly and experienced, making us feel comfortable and safe throughout.
